As you know, COVID 19 impacted us all in ways we could not even begin to image. “The Filmmaker’s Bash”,t he signature fundraising event for NMHS Unlimited Film Productions, a Mississippi-based 501 (c)3 film company, was one of the casualties.

For seven years, the ever-popular “Filmmaker’s Bash” showcased the talents of some of Mississippi’s finest up and coming chefs who competed for the coveted “Top Chef” Award. Previous participants included Nick Wallace, Nick Wallace Culinary; Rashanna Newsome, The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen; Kendrick Gordon, One Guy Steak  Chicken; Grant Nooe, Grant’s Kitchen; Mike Roemhild, Table 100; Damian Shelby, King Edward; Jeremy Enfinger, County Seat, and Marilyn Kithuka, Gumbo Girl. With the “Filmmaker’s Bash” as their launching pad, many have gone on to achieve national prominence.
This year, I would like to invite you to participate in our eight annual “Filmmaker’s Bash” chefs’ competition, an invitation only event for chefs whose clientele have recommended them. You may prepare any dish, that is most representative our theme, “Celebrating the Soul of the South”, for our guest to sample. Let your imaginations run wild. We anticipate approximately 200 VIP guess. The event will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Two Mississippi Museums.

Chefs will be judged on multiple criteria including presentation, table decor and taste of dish. Competing chefs are to be set up by 5:30 p.m. at which time the judged portion of the Bash will take place. The Bash itself will take place from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Two awards will be presented: “Top Bash Chef” and “People’s Choice Award”.

We are also asking our Chefs to recommend a rising Sous Chef. They will compete in our “Top Sous Chef” Competition. Sous Chef should also be set up by 5:30 p.m. They are to create an hors d’oeuvre which best showcases their talents. The same judging criteria will apply. The winning Sous Chef then qualifies to compete in the “Top Bash Chef” competition in 2025.

As a “Thank you” for your support, participants will be highlighted in selected newspapers, and promoted via our website, e-Blasts, and our social media sites.
