Digital Magic is an interactive, hands-on program that introduces young Mississippi students to documentary film making by using familiar technology such as iPhones and iPads. Students will learn valuable techniques, terminology, and research methods as they plan, film, and edit their own short videos.
This Digital Magic course is designed to be hosted at libraries to encourage students to utilize the vast research opportunities and discover resources they need to bring their own voices to life. With an educational focus on social studies, history, reading, language, and social interaction, each student is applying their research to their project while also learning a valuable art and skill – all of which help build confidence and shape long-term goals!
How to Bring Digital Magic to Your Local Library
Mississippi libraries throughout the state are invited to bring Digital Magic to their own communities. In order to keep the program free for participants, each host library is responsible for funding the session. Thanks to some costs underwritten by a grant from the Greater Jackson Arts Council and other generous benefactors, a substantial portion of the fees are already covered.
